We’re launching a few new features tomorrow, 16 July - try them out and let us know what you think.
- Facebook Updates: You are creating mobile websites that are an expression of who you are, and you might want to share them with your friends, family and colleagues. Why not notify them via Facebook when you create new sites or edit existing ones? When you are ready to publish, simply click on the ‘Post Update about Your Site to Social Networking Services’ option, which enables you to select ‘Send update to Facebook’ option. It assumes you already have a Facebook account (although you can register for one if you don’t) - and asks you to logon and ‘Enable Facebook’ in order to setup this new service. Once setup, each time you (re)publish your UBIK sites - your Facebook account will automatically update with the latest links from your UBIK site(s). From there, your friends can view and rate your sites, as well as create their own mobile websites.
- Custom URLs: If you’ve already invested in your own domain name(s), as so many of us have, you want to use them. UBIK already makes it easy to create sites, and we provide the hosting facilities for all of them - this is nothing new. But now you can access the site via www.mysite.com, instead of mysite.ubik.net. Refer here for more details, http://www.ubik.com/tutorial/mobilizer/mobilizer_alternative_dns.html
- Upload lots of photos from your mobile phone or email: It’s now easier than ever to add photos to your mobile sites through your phone or email. Simply select any ‘Gallery’ section of your site, and choose ‘Send from Mobile’. You will be given a Message Subject (such as 1234galleryx2) to enter when you send your photos, and the recipient will always be go@ubik.net. Then, send as many photos as you like from your phone or email, and they will be automatically uploaded into your Gallery.
We value your feedback - please continue to send us your suggestions. In the meantime, keep mobile!

If, like many of us here at UBIK.com, you’re a Mac user, you might like this - we created a site specific browser application for UBIK.com, which makes UBIK.com work like a regular desktop application*. So you can launch UBIK.com from your dock or from your applications folder, with a nice big icon for your dock, and enjoy an application window without a proliferation of tabs and bookmarks.
Please Click here to download the UBIK.com Application for Mac (requires Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard or later).
* We used Fluid to do this. Thanks to the Fluid guys for making such a great little utility for Mac users.

One of the areas in which sites can be best tuned is by adding an image logo as the header rather than using text. For a limited time, and for early users of the service we’re going to directly lend a hand by offering to create a header image for your site.
All you need to do is send us (promo[at]ubik.com) your logo as a PNG, GIF or JPG file (dimensions from 200×200 to 500×500 pixels) and include address (link) to the published site at ubik.net. We will send you back a header image with the logo and styled name of your site.
Please note that the offer is restricted to only one header per user and once supplied, you may not request another version. Delivery time will be subject to demand.
Your site must be published and not contain any dummy text. UBIK.com reserves the right to refuse anyone who they feel does not comply. All terms and conditions apply.
Offer ends June 30th 2008.

We just launched our new site on Monday, and from the number of sites that you - UBIK community, have published over the past few days - we are off to a great start.
You are about to create a single website that can be accessed from the PC and mobile devices. Easily, quickly, and free! Don’t let the technology get in the way of your desire to finally get exposure on the web. Never heard of HTML, WML or XHTML? We’ll take care of that. Don’t know the difference between an iPhone, a Nokia N95 and a SonyEricsson W350i? We’ll take care of that. Never considered the differences between IE, Firefox and Safari? We’ll take care of that. Don’t know how to go about getting your site set up in a secure and reliable environment? We’ll take care of that too.
All you need is a passion for something you want to share with your friends - or a business you want to exploit - and within 20 minutes, you can have a published site that will be viewable by all your friends, and over a billion PC and mobile users. You provide the words, the stories, the photos - the menus, the travel destinations, the floral arrangements - we’ll provide the technology. Don’t know where to start? We’ve provided plenty of templates for you to choose from. You’ll have plenty of chances to preview your site on a range of phone emulators, as well as PC browsers. Once you are happy with your site, you click ‘Publish’ and we host it. For free. You can email your friends, family and potential customers from the Dashboard as well. And finally, you can view comments and ratings from your extended community.
Let us know if you have problems, or have suggestions for improvement. That’s what the Forums and Blogs are for - and we will monitor and respond to them regularly. We can’t guarantee perfection, but we can guarantee passion for what we do.
In the meantime, let your creativity flow and create a multitude of sites that reflect the different sides of your personality, interests, relationships and business exploits. We look forward to seeing what you’ve got!
